Consent to Policies

Please confirm you consent to the following policies.
Tutors must commit to a minimum of six tutoring sessions with their student(s). Sessions can be up to one hour once a week. Additional sessions may be scheduled if you and your student agree. Sessions must occur on the same day and time weekly unless you need to reschedule. Tutoring sessions can only be completed virtually through Zoom Tutors are representatives of our organization. Please act respectfully and appropriately toward your student and their guardian. Vulgar language and inappropriate gestures will not be tolerated and will result in immediate termination from the organization. Please arrive at your sessions on time and prepared. Please complete the session/volunteer hour tracker after each session. This tracker is used to ensure you have weekly sessions and to verify your service hours. Please check your email regularly for updates from us. Monthly emails are sent. If you are not receiving emails from us, please let us know. You may be removed from the organization if you do not respond to the emails sent. Under no circumstances should you request or accept payment for your tutoring sessions.
You must notify your student at least 24 hours in advance if you need to cancel your tutoring session. This policy, of course, does not apply to emergencies. If you need to cancel a session, please try to reschedule it for another day that week. Email us the time and day you rescheduled it. If you cannot tutor for an extended period, please let us, your student, and their parent/guardian know as soon as possible. We will pair your student with a substitute tutor while you are unavailable. When you are available to tutor again, send us an email letting us know! Please let us know if you have a schedule change and can no longer find a mutual time to meet with your student. We will make new pairings for both you and your student. Students must also follow this policy, so if your student does not let you know within 24 hours of your session or does not attend, please notify us immediately.
If you can no longer tutor for our organization, you must notify us and your student(s) at least one week before your next session. You will be removed from our tutor list. If you would like to become a tutor again in the future, please submit a new application on our website. Privacy Policy
Tutors are not required to share any personal information they are not comfortable sharing with their student(s) or Best Step Tutoring. This excludes your name, where you are from, your year in school, and any other information that would prohibit Best Step Tutoring from knowing a tutor’s identity. The information submitted in your application will not be shared with anyone outside of the organization. Tutoring sessions must take place online via Zoom. Never hold sessions in person! Tutoring sessions should not be recorded. Unless your student and their parent/guardian give you consent, under no circumstances should photos or videos showing your student be taken or posted. If you post a picture, please send us an email letting us know and tag our social media accounts. You can find our social media handles here. You may not ask for a student’s personal information other than the emails they provided you unless you, your student, and their parent/guardian agree to share the information. For example, if you both agree, you may share your phone number with your student. If you have any issues or concerns regarding your student pairing, please email us as soon as possible. Once notified, we will work with you to resolve the situation.
